Starcraft 2 Replay Manager v 0.2.0 Release

Starcraft 2 Replay Manager v. 0.2.0

Here we are, announcing a new release of Starcraft 2 Replay Manager app!

This is a major update, which requires a complete new local software on your pc!

Let's go in order. Let's start with the new desktop software that is needed. Just to point its features:
  • Match Analyzer, using an embedded sc2gears version;
  • Auto-Update present for faster patching;
  • Player Statistics;
  • Service Discovery;
  • Synchronization Server;
You can download the windows version here, for mac users in few days will be available a version for you!

So now, let's see how this should work.

Once installed, you will find on your desktop a new shortcut, named "Starcraft 2 Replay Manager" with an icon similar to the SC2Replay files. Click on it and after few seconds you will be prompted a configuration screen, like the one shown below.

The only needed parameter you should add is the "Starcraft 2 Replay Folder". This folder is going to be the one in which the software will look for matches to analyze. Here you can put either the default folder in which Startcraft 2 stores your replays, that depands on your operating system / version, or the folder in which sc2gears stores the replays automatically. In my test setup:

After this first configuration screen, that is mainly about the software configuration to work, a second window will open, asking for some extra details. You will be asked to put your:
  • Player name, the one you use during matches;
  • Player Battle.net ID;
  • Region you are playing in;
  • Current season starting date. The default date is the one for the european servers, you need to set it according to your region, since i am not really capable of getting those dates.
Here is what you will be prompted:

An easy way to obtain such infos is to log-in into your battle.net account and go into the starcraft 2 profile. If you will look at the address bar you will see something like:
in which all info is available. In detail the Battle.net ID is the one immediately after "/profile/", thus, given this link we will have:
  • Player Name: Opossum
  • Battle.net Player ID: 249942
  • Region: Europe
As simple as this!
Now, since that all configuration is stored into an external file a restart is needed. This will be announced by another dialog:

Once restarted the actual match analysis will begin. Notice that since the first run can be quite long, you could have stored hundreds of replays, a pop-up will appear making you notice the overall percentage of analysis, in this test case we are having only 19 replays:

Once the pop-up closes automatically, you will be able to synchronize with your Android app.

The synchronization from the mobile app is as before, only the logic is changed, so nothing that should you care about. If you came from an older version of the android app, all your data saved into the device will be cancelled at first run of the app, to prevent force closing.

On your desktop pc you will see the connection event and the synchronization complete event as "Windows style notifications". Once you click on the "Sync" button on the android device on your pc:
In which you are even able to identify the IP address of your device. Once synchronization is completed you will see:

And your android device will have all the needed informations.

NOTE: Currently there is a bug, in the sense that if you try to synchronize a player with no matches played in the current season, the synchronization procedure will end up only at connection timeout (2 mins).  This will be corrected in a future release, anyway i don't think you are going to synchronize for "inactive" players....

Let's go back now on the Android app. The features of the mobile app are still the same, with the only addition of the team details, as described in a previous post, you could look at it here.

As usual for any problem, error, suggestion or whatever do not esitate to contact me!
