Update on what's going on!

As already said, thanks for the support your are giving me!

This post is to inform you that, even if no new updates have been published, the development is still going on. What is implemented, and not yet release is the Team statistics feature.

A screen of how it look like is given below. This screen will come up after clicking on a team in the main app screen. We can see that it is divided into three main areas:

  • General Team statistics, such as league (as an image), position, points, division and format
  • Member & Team statistics
  • Last matches.
This last one is equal as the last-replay feature added in the previous update, with the only difference that are shown only the matches of the currently viewing team.

This feature will be in few days added to the available to download version. there are still some bugs and error that needs to be handled.

For what about the much more "core" updates, I am working hardly in these days on a more advanced desktop application for the management of the Android app. What is on work now will remove the needs of using sc2gears. The new version will anyway use sc2gears but in an hidden way.

The new application is going to be a standalone software. It will check a user defined folder to identify new replays and, if any, will analyze them, providing an XML output. This then will be sent to your Android app. This new desktop app is intended to provide a much more easy way to synchronize your smartphone with your replays.

In detail the new app, once configured with a player to gather statistics of, will check a folder on your pc to identify if there are available new matches. If so, it will analyze them and store in a local folder all the XML files needed to describe that match. As soon as the match is analyzed also the player statistics will be updated with the results of the last match analyzed.

This local data will be, as expected, kept in XML files, so there is no need to re-analyze a few thousand of replays each time, and as soon as a synchronization is required all these information stored in XML are going to be transfered to your mobile device, on the SD-card. As soon as the synchronization request is received, the local software will check the web for the last results. This is done to low down the number of internet requests and to provide as updated as possible results. Anyway this "remote update" can be forced by the app. This is so since it is possible that for some days we are not able to play but we still want to know our current position in the league.

This will lead to a less-intense computation on the android device. The android device will synchronize by simply getting the XML files from the pc and using them to populate the user interface. Basically all the smartphone computation that currently is done will be done at the synchronization time by the desktop pc. Providing a much more fast app startup and navigation between the various screens of the app.

Anyway, if you, like i am, are lovers of sc2gears and you are continuing using it a new version of the plugin will be release soon to provide again synchronization from the sc2gears app! Sorry for this inconvenience, but the new way replays are handled, less CPU intensively, require some more work on the sc2gear plugin...

So, we are not dead, just preparing some cool news for you!
